FAQ
Consumer Product
Questions, Answered.
Practical answers about prototyping, tooling, materials, production and quality for custom consumer product components.
Still evaluating your product?
Send your CAD files, material, quantity and key requirements. Our engineering team will review them and recommend the next step.
Get a Quote01What consumer product components can you manufacture?
We manufacture custom housings, enclosures, structural plastic parts, precision metal components, brackets, frames, buttons, seals and other parts for consumer electronics, household products, personal-care devices and connected products.
02Which manufacturing processes are available?
Available processes include rapid tooling, plastic injection molding, CNC machining, die casting, sheet metal fabrication, silicone compression molding, 3D printing and selected secondary finishing and assembly services.
03Can you support both prototypes and production parts?
Yes. We support appearance and functional prototypes, engineering validation parts, bridge production and repeat manufacturing. The recommended process depends on geometry, material, finish, quantity and launch schedule.
04Can HordRT help with material and DFM decisions?
Yes. Our engineering team can review wall thickness, draft, ribs, bosses, undercuts, tolerances, assembly features and material options to improve manufacturability before tooling or production begins.
05What colors and surface finishes can you provide?
Depending on the material and process, options may include molded color, texture, painting, powder coating, anodizing, plating, polishing, bead blasting, laser marking and printing. Finish requirements are confirmed during quotation.
06How do you control product quality and appearance?
Quality control may include material verification, first-article inspection, dimensional checks, CMM inspection, functional checks and visual standards for color, texture and cosmetic surfaces based on the agreed project requirements.
07What information is needed for a quotation?
Please provide 3D CAD files, 2D drawings where available, preferred material, quantity, finish, critical dimensions and any assembly or testing requirements. This helps us prepare an accurate manufacturing proposal.
