The Benefits of Modular Unit Die

What’s Modular Unit Die?

Modular Unit Die(MUD), as known as Master Unit Die,  which can provide versatility in the mold design and manufacturing process. The MUD offers a standard mold that can according to the different structure and size of the product to match the corresponding standard mold base, the processing time of the mold on the mold embryo is completed in advance. And the relevant size of the mold core is matched with varieties of thickness, which greatly guarantees the production cycle of the rapid mold.

Hord is an on-demand manufacturer of rapid tooling and low-volume production, which can save a lot of cost and time. The most important reason why we can save the cost and time for customers is that we have made hundreds of shared mold base (MUD). The structure of the shared mold base basically matches more than 80% of the products, and more than 5 sets of the same model are made to ensure that multiple sets of molds of one model can be produced at the same time.In our experience, the cost and time of tooling and assembly can be saved by more than 50%.

There is shared mold base available, and we can save a lot of time and cost for our customers if they does not need to removed the mold. For example, there are 10 parts of similar size and geometric need to make rapid tooling. Normally, 10 molds are needed, and the cost of mold is $1000. If use the shared mold base 10 times for rapid tooling, the cost is only 1/10. So we can save 9/10 of the cost for our customers.
