 Rapid CNC Machining

Rapid CNC Machining is a fast and cost-effective way to make a few precision prototype with plastic and metal material. It was widely used in new product development and design. Of course, it is also a common method to make volume manufacturing for some parts in limit of molding. Like high quality phone case, laptop case, light cover etc. But the cost is a little high than extrusion, pressure die casting etc process.

CNC material range is very wide, generally it’s plastic and metal.

For plastic, ABS, PC, POM, PVC,PEI, PEEK etc. black and natural color normally are available.

For metal, Aluminum 6061, 7075, 2024,5052, Stainless Steel 303/304/316/17-4PH, Steel 1050, 1018, 4130,4140; Brass, Bronze etc.

Our biggest machine size is 1500*700*650 mm; The available smallest cutter is 0.2 mm diameter. We also have 4 axises and 5 axises CNC machining capability. Fast, big size range, precision are our advantage.

CNC means that cutting your materials by using the computer arithmetical control system. When it comes to our Rapid CNC machining, it is a unique and efficient machine aimed to interpret 3D CAD form before translating essential information to the systems. The most beneficial reason to use this service is that it will create the parts that will easily replace addictive manufactured or invention prototypes by using real production grade resources. It aids you in building the parts in a featured material which you actually intend for utilizing in development. Rapid CNC Machining is a perfect option for speedy prototyping of superior quality metal or plastic parts that requires an increased range of dimensional accurateness, crucial surface finishes and material-specific features.

Where to use Rapid CNC machining?

It is pleasing news for everyone that our every machine is generally preferred in the designing and also development task of new products. Obviously, it appears as a well-known way of making the volume manufacturing for certain elements in the range of moulding. The material sort of CNC is really wide. For the plastic, PEEK, PEI, PVC, POM, PC and ABS, natural and black colors are obtainable. The size of our huge machine is roughly about 1500*700*650 mm. Most essentially, we have the 5 axises and 4 axises capacity of our services. We let our customers enjoy precision, fast results, and huge size range. CNC refers to cutting material with a computer numerical control machine. CNC machining is a subtractive manufacturing process where raw material is removed with a variety of precision cutting tools to make a part or product. Advanced software is used to control the equipment according to the specification of your 3D design. Our team of engineers and machinists program the equipment to optimize cutting time, surface finish and final tolerance to meet your specifications. Hord uses Rapid CNC Machining not only to manufacture parts and prototypes but also to make mold tools, which can be used for our Rapid Injection Molding or Rapid Pressure Die Casting services. The CNC machining process interprets your 3D CAD model and translates data to CNC machines. The main benefit of the process is that CNC will produce parts that can replace the additive manufactured prototypes with true production grade materials. This method allows you to build your parts in the featured material that you intend for use in production. CNC machining is the best choice for rapid prototyping of high-quality metal and plastic parts requiring the greatest degree of dimensional accuracy, critical surface finishes, material-specific properties. We work with a wide range of plastic and metal materials including magnesium, steel, aluminum, brass and titanium to make tooling for plastic injection molding and pressure die casting or to make parts for rapid prototypes and Low Volume Production. In addition to our stock list, we can provide you with customized raw material as required.

Rapid Prototype Tooling Service
We make hard tooling (cores and cavities) from a variety of materials to suit your budget, order volume and schedule. We routinely make production-quality tools from P20, NAK80, S136 stainless and H13 semi-hardened steel for volumes up to 100,000 pieces. Specialty metals can also be ordered on request. The Basics of CNC Machining
CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) machining is a means to remove material with high precision machines, using a wide variety of cutting tools to create the final design. Common CNC machines include vertical milling machines, horizontal milling machines, lathes, and routers.

How Rapid CNC Machining Works
To successfully make a part on a CNC machine, skilled machinists create programmed instructions using CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) software in conjunction with the CAD (Computer Aided Design) model provided by the customer. The CAD model is loaded into the CAM software and tool paths are created based on the required geometry of the manufactured part. Once the tool paths are determined, the CAM software creates G-Code (machine code) that tells the machine how fast to move, how fast to turn the stock and/or tool, and where to move the tool or workpiece in a 5-axis X, Y, Z, A, and B coordinate system.

Types of Rapid CNC Machining
There are several types of CNC machine — namely the CNC lathe, CNC mill, CNC router, and Wire EDM. With a CNC lathe, the part stock turns on the spindle and the fixed cutting tool is brought into contact with the workpiece. Lathes are perfect for cylindrical parts and are easily set up for repeatability. Conversely, on a CNC mill the rotating cutting tool moves around the workpiece, which remains fixed to a bed. Mills are all-purpose CNC machines that can handle most any machining process. CNC machines can be simple 2-axis machines where only the tool head moves in the X and Z-axes or much more complex 5-axis CNC mills, where the workpiece can also move. This allows for more complex geometries without requiring extra operator work and expertise. This makes it easier to produce complex parts and reduces the chance of operator error. Wire Electrical Discharge Machines (EDMs) take an entirely different approach to Rapid CNC machining in that they rely on conductive materials and electricity to erode the workpiece. This process can cut any conductive material, including all metals. CNC routers, on the other hand, are ideal for cutting soft sheet materials such as wood and aluminum and are more cost-effective than using a CNC mill for a similar job. For harder sheet materials such as steel, a waterjet, laser, or plasma cutter is required.

Benefits of Rapid CNC Machining
The benefits of Rapid CNC Machining are numerous. Once a tool path is created and a machine is programmed, it can run a part 1 time, or 100,000 times. CNC machines are built for precise manufacturing and repeatability which makes them cost-efficient and highly scalable. CNC machines can also work with a variety of materials from basic aluminum and plastics to more exotic materials like titanium — making them the ideal machine for almost any job. That's why Rapid CNC Machining is one of the most popular methods of making plastic and metal components.
